WSU's Leach finds books more binding than marriages

Jul 26, 2013

CULVER CITY, Calif. -- It's well known by now that Mike Leach is good for a juicy quote or 20 any time a microphone is placed in front of his mouth. Not surprisingly, Washington State's podium session Friday morning at 2013 Pac-12 Football Media Day on the lot of Sony Pictures Studios, was no exception.

A fan on Twitter asked Leach about the books he's been reading, to which Leach responded "mostly my own," referring to the book he is co-writing on Geronimo with Washington State professor Buddy Levy.

And that's where it got interesting.

"Books are funny things," Leach said. "Books almost go a little beyond even the confines of a marriage. You write a book? That's there forever. You don't divorce a book." (Not sure how his wife Sharon feels about that...)

No timetable on when the book on the Apache chief will come out, but Leach did say he sent the book to undergo its first edit a week go. Make sure you buy a copy... or three.

"When the Geronimo book comes out, everybody needs to buy a copy, and buy a couple extra in case you lose the first one," he said.
